Crafting PDQ-(Pretty Damn Quick)

The one thingI hear the most when I ask people why they don't make more art or crafts is....they dont have time.  Not having time got me to thinking...what if I provided some projects/classes that were just under an hour in length , and you still walk out with a finished project that you were proud of, in the same amount of time it takes to get your hair done or have a mani pedi.... a mini creative escape for your creative soul.

 

 

Our first PDQ Class is a quote on a canvas is perfect for adults and kids ....This canvas board is 5"x7" and is frame ready or easel ready or can be hung by ribbon. All Supplies are included you just nned to know what your quote is going to be....keep it simple since the canvas is small.

All Supplies included (unless you have a sticker font you like then bring a complete sticker sheet)

Giving myself permission to play today

I have an ATC class at THE ART LOUNGE tomorrow, and thought I would make some cards myself to share with my students. 

I like to challenge myself to create cards with things that i have on hand...leftover bits from classes. things that I left out of the table from make n takes. I try NOT to do much thinking and instead be creative on the fly.

 Here I used a sweet little bird Die Cut by Tim Holtz for Sizzix as a mask. This little guy is perfect since out ATC card theme is "Natural Beauty" whats more beautiful than a sweet bird.

 

I used Tim's Distressing Tool to apply the ink to my card...kind of gives it a soft shaded look and its sooooo easy to do.

 

Outlined my bird using a white  Reminisce pen by Marvy Uchida...Best white pens ever if you are asking for my two cents. Printed out a little saying from photoshop...and voila! Cards are done.

Kids Animal Silhouette Collage Class

Join Marah for a fun Mixed media class for kids. They will combine paint and collage to create a mixed media masterpiece perfect to hang in your home gallery or give as a gift. The kids will be able to choose from a variety of animal silhouettes so that each child create a piece that is reflective of their inner artist.

The Escape Artist-"The Altered Soul" Workshop

The Escape Artist – “The Altered Soul.”

(A full day of Art to feed your spirit)

 

Join Marah at The Art Lounge for a full day workshop creating an altered board book focused on nurturing your creative spirit and feeding your soul. We will be creating our book using a recycled children’s board book as our canvas, and a world of mediums to delight the senses and inspire your muse.

 

This class will be kept to an 8-student maximum to keep the setting intimate and plenty of room for each of us to create in. Breakfast and lunch will be provided (you are welcome to bring additional snacks and drinks)

Marah's Mixed Media Card Class

Join Marah once a month for a fun technique filled card making class. Each month we will combine inks, paints, rubber stamps, and some lovely paper bits and bling creating some fabulous cards you will love to have on hand for your special friends and family. Each month we will complete 5-6 cards complete with envelopes. Below is just a teaser of what we will make our first week!

Spent the Day Making Card

I love making cards...They take relatively little time and make a whole lotta inmpact!

 

Cards a the perfect size to expirement with techniques...not to mention they give joy to the people you give them to.

I enjoy using found objects and  paper headed for the trash in my cards...it gives me a little sense of accomplishment.

Since I had so much fun making these cards I thought they would be a great teaser to a card making class....I will post details in a bit.

Glass Fusing Class with Vicenzo

I am so excited to finally be bringing this class to The Art Lounge! Glass Fusing Class making Pendants.

Who doesnt love the magic of glass, especially dichroic glass with the iridescence and movent of color when the light hits it just right! In this class you will make 3 pendants

Due to the amount of interest in this class....it must be prepaid so i can tell Vincenzo how many to prepare for.  Seating is limited to 12 per session. We have two class dates offered to make sure there is room for everyone.

New Mommy Makes Monthly Class Series with Iris and Natalia

The Art Lounge has its way of blessing me...my customers give me much more joy I think, than I give them.  Iris and her 5 month old son, Oliver visit The Art Lounge on a regualr basis. She paints incredible pieces that are so indicative of her european roots while I get to enjoy her sweet son Oliver. Its during these sessions that I have been lucky enough to get to know Iris better,  I begin to realize how much we have in common with our love of DIY and the need to foster a creative life and my granola roots and her granola ways.  So of course when Iris asked if she could teach a "Mommy Makes" series...how could I resist! 

May 19th will be Iris and Natalies first class,  for new moms and mommy's to be...our unique environment allows you to be creative with your babies at your side.

Vintage Stash Journal-Book binding class with Elaine

 

 

 

Have you ever held a custom made book in your hand, loved the feel of it and wished that you could own it...or even better, make it yourself? Well, here is your chance.

This will be an exciting and fun class for anyone wishing to make a customized Vintage Stash Journal while learning the skills of book binding. You will have choices from a half dozen different cover designs, create a cover from scratch, learn how to compile fun and creative pages, learn to adorn pages with clever tricks of the trade, and hand sew in the signatures. If you don't know what a signature is you'll walk away with that knowledge as well as many more tricks of the trade to complete this journal and many more books in the future if you so desire.

 

The class will include all the products needed to have a complete journal by the end with tea died paper, envelopes, embellishments, and much , much more. 

Bring your own scissors, and possibly some of your favorite papers (just in case you desire to customize or add to what will already be provided). However, everything needed to complete a journal will be provided for you and is included in the $70 class fee.

Are you ready to have a great time while learning an old world art form? And to think, when you are done you will walk away with a treasured book that will be hard to let go of if you are planning to make it for a friend. You just might find yourself wanting to make another so you can keep this one for yourself.
